After the 11th National Cricket Table Tournament, another noble event was held and this was the Sofia table cricket festival “Cricket for all” that took place on the 9th of December 2017 in Hristo Botev hall in Sofia. The event is dedicated to children and young people with specific needs and it is part of the overall cricket development campaign for people with special needs and their integration through sport.
The sport games were led by Saif Rehman, a doyen of the cricket in Bulgaria, an initiator of the table cricket in Bulgaria and president of United Cricket Club. Apart from being the judge marking the results, Rehman also took part in the games by rolling small plastic balls from one of the end „table pitch”, which were hit by the batsman at the other end, who held a wooden bat.
The event was organized by Multi Kulti Collective, with the partnership of Association “United Cricket Club” – Sofia.
We would like to express special thanks to Deloitte Legal Law Firm, Publicis Sofia, Sofia Municipality, Region “Studentski”, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation and all volunteers, which supported the organisation of this event!
Our Multi Kulti Children’s Programme is running for a second year. It aims at bringing together Bulgarian and migrant/refugee children in order to overcome social barriers while participating in cultural, educational and sport events. Children and youth between the ages of 6 and 18 have the opportunity to get to know each other in a safe informal environment, to increase their knowledge and improve their skills, to have fun and create common memories and friendships. The Programme has been actively supporting the two-way integration and building bridges between different cultures thus enabling children to live in a community free from prejudice, discrimination and xenophobia.
