Refugee Integration Monitoring

We’re independent & we care

Since 2013 Multi Kulti Collective has been carrying out independent monitoring on the integration of refugees in Bulgaria.

In 2013-2014, the monitoring was commissioned by the Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants and was funded by UNHCR Bulgaria.

The objective of the monitoring in 2013 was to analyse the implementation of the National Program for the Integration of Refugees in Bulgaria in 2013 and to put forward some recommendations based on the challenges and best practices identified.

In 2014 there was no National Programme for Integration, so the Multi Kulti team monitored a “year of zero integration” and outlined the challenges facing the integration of persons with international protection which should be addressed by the stakeholders at central and local level in 2015. Its purpose was to help directly the process of developing the Integration plan for the next year.

In 2016-2021 Multi Kulti Collective is senior Bulgarian partner (with Bulgarian Council on Refugees and Migrants as junior) of the National Integration Evaluation Mechanism (NIEM) project which will establish a mechanism for a biennial, comprehensive evaluation of the integration of beneficiaries of international protection to provide evidence on gaps in integration standards, identify promising practices and evaluate the effects of legislative and policy changes.
